CANON U.S.A. ANNOUNCES THAT CANON INC. HAS REACHED ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY MILESTONE, ACHIEVING 30,000 DIGITAL RADIOLOGY DETECTORS SOLD

MELVILLE, N.Y., May 14, 2015 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc., has achieved a total of 30,000 digital radiography (DR) units sold worldwide. In 1998, Canon launched the CXDI-11, the world’s first digital radiography system which featured a proprietary-developed X-ray image sensor. Canon then introduced the world’s first portable digital radiography detector, and has led the industry with many of the industry’s advanced features and technology “firsts” ever since continually expanding its lineup of related products in response to the ever-diversifying demand for X-ray diagnostic solutions.

“We are proud to continue our legacy of providing our customers with high-quality imaging technology and creating a culture of innovation that has inspired great achievements in imaging solutions for healthcare,” said Tsuneo Imai, vice president and general manager, Healthcare Solutions Division, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. and president, Virtual Imaging, Inc. “We are excited to celebrate Canon Inc.’s major production milestone that demonstrates how significant Canon solutions are for the healthcare industry. Canon looks forward to carrying on the tradition of advancing and contributing to this field.”

Ideal for practices large and small and various diagnostic imaging areas and radiology rooms, the Canon digital radiography lineup continues to help meet the challenging needs of the healthcare industry. Designed to help healthcare professionals attain a high-level of performance, usability, and reliability, the Canon CXDI Series of Digital Radiography Systems incorporates the Canon LANMIT® (Large Area New-MIS Sensor and TFT) X-ray image sensor, a digital radiography device that makes it possible to acquire high-resolution medical image data with a low radiation dose. Importantly, these detectors utilize technology that can help accelerate exams and maintain productive workflows for healthcare organizations.
